Poetry in America has developed a curriculum to help teachers bring Gorman’s inaugural poem into the classroom. With a series of four lessons, which can be used sequentially or as standalone activities, teachers can guide students through a close reading of Gorman’s words and performance. The lessons help students place the poem in historical context and even invite them to try their hand at writing poetry of their own.
